The Lonely Run of Joe Biden

Senator Joe Biden campaigned in Iowa as hard as any of the "top tier" candidates. He was an intense campaigner and appealed to many. He could have been a contender with his personable style coupled with his depth of experience in foreign policy and the workings of Washington. But in a field with superstar candidates, Biden was merely a star. He drew curious but non-committal crowds. In the end he would finish 4th in Iowa and drop from the race. But in August his aspirations for higher office were revived when Barack Obama selected him as his running mate.
